Greetings From Alvin and Marion Curley

Dear Brother Knights, Wives and Families,

On behalf of my wife Marion and me I wish to express my sincere gratitude to my Brother Knights for the tremendous support and encouragement they have given me at the State Convention in Alberton regarding serving as State Deputy for 2007-2008.  I am awed by the tremendous organization, the Knights of Columbus. This year I am strongly promoting the theme of Team Building and I ask all brother knights to join me in this theme. A greater synergy results through teamwork. I also believe that the Love of Power is far less important than the Power of Love. The many volunteers in the Knights operate on the principle of the Power of Love. This is such a strong concept for building a Knights of Columbus Team in Prince Edward Island, in the Districts and in the Councils. Indirectly this theme is promoted through the Principles of Charity, Unity and Fraternity and in the Areas of Family and Youth.

I encourage every Council to use the Telephone Tree. This keeps all members informed. The Grand Knight is the key person in his Council. His leadership in teambuilding, initiatives, and having the ability to delegate is instrumental in having a successful Council. Getting the necessary forms in on time is crucial to your success as a Council as well as the Districts. The Five Pillars of the PEI KofC are the State Deputies. They include:  District One:  DD Gerard LeClair (Donna) Councils: Alberton, Bloomfield, Palmer Road and Tignish; District Two:  DD Kenny MacLellan (Marie) Councils: Kensington, North Rustico, Seven Mile Bay and Summerside; District Three: DD Gary Clow (Eileen)  Councils: Fort Augustus, Iona, St. Pius X, and Stratford; District Four: DD Lloyd Deagle (Roma)  Councils: Montague, Morell, Souris, and Vernon River; District Five:  DD David MacAulay (Carol)  Councils Cornwall, Holy Redeemer, St. Dunstan’s and St. Eugenes. Our Membership Chair is Brother Bernard McKenna (who sponsored 23 members himself the past two years!). I would love to see the District Deputies hold a District Rally (Involving their four councils) before Christmas and preferable early in the Fall.  I encourage all Councils and Districts to use our webpage www.peikofc.com. Send information to website chair Steve Perry. His email is steve@peikofc.com. What a great vehicle to place each Council’s annual report. The website can be used to announce when the various Degrees are held as well as other activities. Remember our News Letter Editor and Public Relations Chair GK Charles DesRoches. In closing I thank PSD Don Evans the tremendous accomplishments he had achieved last year and his great support to me this year. Thanks also to the Executive, the DD’s, GK’s and all officers and Knights for making last year a successful one. May God bless you all.

Alvin Curley, State Deputy 2007-2008
